    Chase Brass and Copper Company, a leader in the brass rod industry, has an immediate opening for an experienced Purchasing Agent at our Montpelier, Ohio facility.

     

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the primary responsibility is the procurement of MRO items/services for operation and maintenance needs in accordance with Chase Brass purchasing policies and procedures.  The Purchasing Agent will also monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationships, and support the day-to-day operations through purchase order entry, receipts, and completion of special projects.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Prepare bid documents, handle bid process, and analyze bid results with confidentiality and promptness in a friendly and courteous manner.
    • Work with suppliers to develop supply agreements to meet the needs of the company
    • Complete tasks in support of the company’s SOX requirements and support financial audits
    • Verify accuracy and maintain records of purchase orders and receipts for MRO goods/services
    • Develop and maintain purchasing reports
    • Maintain operating supplies and spare parts inventory through use of computer systems, cycle counts, assigning part numbers, and creating orders.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to improve purchasing programs and processes

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum five years of purchasing/supply chain experience in a manufacturing company

     

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work independently and manage priorities
    • Strong negotiation skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to interface with all departments and end users.

    • Good understanding of mechanical/electrical in order to understand maintenance and engineering requirements.

    • Solid PC, Microsoft Office, and Maintenance Management skills. Experience with Oracle or other ERP software preferred.
