Wieland broke ground for a new recycling facility in Shelbyville, Kentucky, on June 29, 2022. The plant will melt and recycle copper and copper alloy scrap for use in manufacturing semi-finished products for customers throughout North America. Wieland delivers on its commitment to sustainability, recycling leadership and advancement toward a circular economy and carbon neutrality with this investment. Wieland Recycling - Shelbyville will leverage the infinite recyclability of copper and serve as both a hub for closed-loop recycling, as well as a refining center for third-party scrap.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do

 

Wieland currently has an immediate opportunity for a Logistics & Production Planning Supervisor who will manage the planning and scheduling of freight to insure on-time customer deliveries at the lowest cost, as well as develop
systems and procedures to coordinate logistics with transportation companies, suppliers, and customers. This role will help achieve company objectives through on-time delivery performance, inventory turns, sales goals, and plant operating cost objectives. 

 

This person will sit at Wieland Recycling - Shelbyville in Shelbyville, KY. This facility is currently under construction and is expected to be fully operational by Fall 2023. 

 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates the receipt and shipment of raw material and finished goods to maximize load capacity, while ensuring delivery expectations are achieved
  • Plans and schedules production operations to meet customer demands and inventory goals
  • Effectively plans and communicates flow of material to metal procurement, operations, and supply chain
  • Develop new freight carriers and improve the performance of existing carriers. Develop processes to decrease quality/performance complaints by customers due to transportation related issues
  • Develops and maintains reporting metrics to measure key objectives and improvements
  • Drives the continuous improvement of logistics and material movement

Qualifications

What you’ll need

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or similar) or 2-5 years’ of specialized supply chain/logistics experience in lieu of degree
  • Analytical and detailed with a strong capacity to quickly respond to and resolve issues
  • Strong business acumen with expertise in logistics/transportation
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written), organizational, and computer skills (Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel - and ERP systems)
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team environment and to work across functions within and outside the organization
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime hours to support 24 x 7 operation
