Wieland is hiring a Machine Operator. The Machine Operator will report to the Production Supervisor. Performs various semi-skilled procedures relating to manufacturing of commercial copper tubing. Operates industrial machinery as specified in written SOP’s.
This role is located in Pine Hall, N.C. and will be fully on-site.
Starting Pay: $17.14
Schedule: C Team (2-2-3 - 7 am - 7 pm)
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly
Machine Operator Responsibilities:
• Performs all applicable SOP’s, JSA’s, and QAP’s associated with assigned job title.
• Conducts safety audit of equipment at the beginning of each shift, records results of audit and submits results to Supervisor.
• Operates shell milling machine, rolling mill, and the two double cascades in the Direct Tube department.
• Activities include e.g. production, quality checks, change overs, production PM and keeping work area clean.
• Performs shell transport to conveyors up to table for rolling mill.
• Requires the ability to use any kind of tooling needed for the operation of machines.
• Requires ability to perform quality checks including: visual checks, measurements with ID, OD, and wall micrometers, calculation of tube eccentricity out of performed wall checks.
• Ability, not only to operate machinery, but able to add, change, save, or recall stored data in systems such as Excel.
Machine Operator Qualifications:
• Must be able to perform firm grasping, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, standing, crouching, sitting, negotiating stairs, ladders, and slippery surfaces in a hot/cold (summer/winter) environment, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Work safely with, around, and wearing protection for cleaning chemicals, solvents, copper fumes, inks and lubricants
• Must be able to distinguish colors.
• Must be able to grasp and use a pry bar (20 pounds).
• Must be able to firmly grasp and use hammers, wrenches, and various hand tools during adjustments, repairs, and replacement/change-out operations.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment for assigned duties.
• Must be able to use a shovel during cleaning operations.
