Wieland is hiring a Foundry Supervisor. The Foundry Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities and safety of workers engaged in shredding, sorting and charging copper scraps into the refining furnace and casting molten metal to produce a finished ingot, meeting the daily production requirements while continuously improving manufacturing operations. The Foundry Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the process at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.

 

This role will be located at Wieland Recycling - Shelbyville in Shelbyville, KY. The Recycling facility is a 24/7 operation - so this person must be willing and able to work twelve (12) hour shifts, to include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

 

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience with molten metals is preferred but not required.

 

Responsibilities

Foundry Supervisor Responsibilities:

 

• Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs or directs workers on when to make adjustments or repairs.
• Trains workers in foundry processes and in the operation of machines and equipment
• Responsible for the safety of employees, plant housekeeping, and meeting daily production requirements while continuously improving manufacturing operations.
• Directly supervises production and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure daily staffing is sufficient to meet production and delivery requirements.
• Review schedule and order requirements
• Communicates with prior and later shift supervision on schedule, equipment performance, and known priorities.
• Notifies management of unplanned downtime, excessive scrap, or risk of not meeting schedule per downtime escalation procedure
• Review daily performance (safety, productivity, efficiency, scrap, and equipment issues
• Discuss and initiate countermeasures for off-target performance.
• Follow-up on associates' needs and concerns as it relates to production needs.
• Monitors hourly performance for each operation.
• Hour-by-hour performance tracking, OEE, scrap trends and improvement actions, downtime tracking and improvement actions.
• Ensure employee compliance to part and process operating standards and standards work requirements.
• Ensures compliance to all rules, regulations, and policies.
• Immediately documents, communicates, and corrects violations or unsafe conditions; treats all direct reports equally with respect and compassion.
• Performs other duties as required.

 

Foundry Supervisor Qualifications:

 

• 3-5 years prior supervisory or team leadership responsibility in a manufacturing environment
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• SAP experience is considered a plus.
• Above average interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Strong planning skills and the ability to direct and lead by example.
• Self-directed and motivated to achieve manufacturing excellence in the assigned area – drive for results.
• Personal ownership and accountability for safety and production performance
• Ability to interpret data and present conclusions and improvement actions that are needed

• Proficient in speaking, reading and writing in English
