Wieland is hiring a Production Material Handler. The Production Material Handler will be responsible to ensure all goods being shipped or received are in good condition and according to all received documentation. To create safe and organized walkways and storage locations for use of everyday items. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site. 

 

Starting Pay: $19/hr + Shift Dif.

Schedule: 2nd Shift 2 pm - 10 pm M-F

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Production Material Handler Responsibilities:

 

     • Loads, unloads and moves material within plant using an overhead crane.(Training to be provided)
     • Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
     • Lifts material with overhead crane or hand jack to various machines or places in the plant.
     • Sometimes uses a forklift to move parts from one division to another.
     • Cleaning and organizing pre-material and finished areas for safe walkways and good housekeeping.
     • Perform routine inspections on crane chains and straps and ropes.
     • Report any damages from incoming or outgoing trucks.
     • Comply with all policies and environmental standards.
     • Report all incidents immediately (including near misses)

     • Exercise independent judgment regarding assigned responsibilities and consults manager in situations that would have a significant business impact.
     • Other tasks as assigned

Production Material Handler Qualifications:

     • Must be able to read Bill of Ladings and packing lists and verify accurately what is being shipped/received according to these documents.
     • High school diploma (preferred)
     • 2 years’ experience (preferred but will train)
     • Involves periods of, standing, walking, and negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms in hot or cold production environment on slippery surfaces for the purpose of directing operations and evaluating situations.
     • Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., safety glasses, steel toed shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, etc.)
     • Occasionally lift up to 50lbs Maximum.
