Wieland is hiring a Met Lab Technician. The Met Lab Technician will be responsible for testing and analyzing the properties of metal alloys to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site. 

Hourly Pay Range: $25.40 - $26.40/hr with a $0.40/hr shift differential

Work Schedule: 2^nd Shift (3p-11p) Training will be conducted on 1^st shift (7a-3p)

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Met Lab Technician Responsibilities:

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations
• Follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and JSP (Job Safety Practice) documents
• Read, understand, and follow all Work Instructions Specific to the equipment
• Detect and report faulty operations, improper material, and unusual conditions
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Performs routine laboratory procedures such as samples logged in, preparation, cleaning, setting up equipment, calibration, etc.
• Performs laboratory tests and produce reliable & precise data to support scientific methods to meet ISO Standard 9001 procedures and customer’s requirements
• Ensure all data input/output is meeting quality procedures and chemistry specification.
• Ability to present to senior colleagues and Management if any quality issues arise
• Maintain lab records accordingly to the requirement time frame.
• Identify and document any problems relating to product or process.
• Recommend solutions and verify the implementation as to initiate corrective action as required and assist key personnel in the resolution of problems to ensure that proper information flows to support defined goals and objectives.
• Perform other similar or related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.

Met Lab Technician Qualifications:

• Ability to read and write English. Ability to maintain Lab records and logs
• Employment record reflecting reliability. Above average attendance.
• 1-3 years' experience working in a Lab setting or equivalent.
• Ability to successfully complete ISO 9001-2015 Standard training.
• Ability to use and interpret data from micrometers, calipers, tensile machines, and lab furnaces
• Excellent decision-making skills and organizational ability
• Mechanically inclined with a comfort level with using small hand tools
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Successfully complete a formal 30-60-90-day review.
