Wieland is hiring a Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and troubleshooting of all buildings, machines (rolling mill, annealing line, slitters, finning machines, cleaning lines, finishing lines etc.) and vehicles. This role drives all equipment & facilities reliability efforts ensuring that the equipment & facilities are kept to the OEM specs & operation for safe & optimal performance. The Maintenance Manager can expect to work on-site with employees at all levels to support the production of a broad range of copper alloy materials. They provide leadership and direction in assessing, determining, and executing facility capital expenditures and maintenance enhancement needs with a significant focus on improving productivity and minimizing costs & waste while assuring highest levels of safety, quality, and performance. Direct or lead problem analysis for equipment related performance or quality concerns. Proficiency with legacy and cutting-edge technologies to ensure that the Company is leveraging the most effective platforms for increased productivity, safety, and profitability. The Maintenance Manager works with the engineering & maintenance teams and is the liaison with all the other operations teams. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site. 

 

Base Salary Range: $108,600 - $130,000 per year]

May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Manager Responsibilities:

  • Manages, leads, and motivates a team to deliver results by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines, engaging and developing team members through effective performance management, coaching and training. Drives safety in the maintenance & engineering department & ensures all work is executed following local, state & deferral regulations.
  • Set targets for equipment performance, monitor progress, and implement change management when necessary to achieve department and business unit targets. Support maintenance staff in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical questions / issues
  • Develops and continuously improves a detailed department-specific business plan ensuring all facility assets including production equipment, support equipment, and building, and grounds are properly maintained. This is done through strategic and effective scheduling of assigned, monitored, and measured corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for technical activities and projects that includes collaborating with engineering team on equipment design, modification, purchase, installation, and commissioning. Acts as local contact person for technical projects and equipment problems in cooperation with HQ in Germany.
  • Prepare and manage maintenance budgets within established guidelines.
  • Responsible for maintaining the facilities buildings and grounds in a cost-effective manner that creates a positive image to customers and the community.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and review the work of on-site contractors to ensure projects are installed in accordance with standards and specifications; local, state, and federal codes; and OSHA regulations. Lead and implement local driven technical projects on machines and buildings. Locally implement the NA sourcing strategy for MRO services, operational supplies and spare parts
  • Provide on and off-hour emergency support including equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed.
  • Collaborate with procurement team on negotiating pricing, quality and delivery of multiple purchased categories.
  • Collaborates with the leadership team to ensure business plan goals and other KPIs are achieving target and goals and other KPIs are achieving target and develops and implements action plans to correct below target performance measures by actively participating in meetings, management reviews, and audits.
  • Act as liaison for Engineering in an advisory role to problem solve issues as they arise. Creative thinking and outside the box approaches are encouraged to solve problems or develop solutions to process recycled materials.

Maintenance Manager Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP PM and MM modules is an added plus
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required
  • 10+ years leading a related maintenance operations environment, preferably in the metals or related industry
  • Flexible, assertive, stress-tolerant, and optimistic mindset, with a willingness to adapt to evolving project requirements and deadlines. Be readily available on a 7-day 24 hour on call basis. Respond effectively to emergency calls, as needed.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate projects between departments and planning a flow of tasks beginning to end.
  • Ability to communicate at any levels, including explanation of technical information to non-technical employees. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Interacts with various organizational support elements including administrative, human recourses, financial, quality control, production and safety departments
  • Knowledge of reading electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic schematics
  • Well versed in troubleshooting methodologies & use of different instrumentation (DMM, dial indicators, etc.) for troubleshooting
  • Deep understanding of reliability centered maintenance: preventive maintenance & predictive maintenance
