Wieland is hiring a 2nd Shift Multicoiler Operator. The Multicoiler Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Multicoil in the Finishing Dept. This includes completing all orders on time and in line with the priorities set in the WFS (Wieland Factory Suite) manufacturing computer system. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site. 

 

Hourly Pay Range$21/hr - $25/hr

Work Schedule: 2nd Shift- 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Shift Differential: $0.50/hr shift differential

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Multicoiler Operator Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and as part of a team with safety as the number one priority. Properly follow all company and OSHA regulations.
  • Turn on the WFS computer, review orders & priorities, and locate material – material handlers assist.
  • Set up the proper pallet onto the end platform / lazy Susan.
  • Stage and position coils on the loading table for processing.
  • Safely operate a vacuum lifting system to transfer coils between platforms.
  • Ends of coils need to be welded together to produce one continuous run.
  • Utilizing the vacuum plate, transport the coil onto the end platform
  • Remove the completed pallet and prepare the machine for the next job by repeating steps 3-4.

Multicoiler Operator Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in heavy metals or similar manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to maintain the production schedule and meet throughput, yield, and scrap goals.
  • Ability to monitor material quality, including flatness, gauge, hardness, surface finish and edge condition.
  • Ensure proper identification of coils and samples.
  • Achieve production throughput, yield and scrap goal.
  • Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other testing equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure with high stress levels required
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a positive attitude.

  • Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods. Negotiate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Exposure to production environments that are not temperature controlled.
  • Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools.
  • Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, touch or manipulate items.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and if more than 50 pounds, team lift is required.
